Greener Travel

As active people who love the great outdoors and all the opportunities it offers us for adventure, discovery and connection, we understand the importance of protecting the places we love.

Across the Active Travel Group, we have worked hard to choose the right partners to help us achieve our goals and we are proud to work alongside brilliant charities and initiatives to ensure that travel remains sustainable in the long term.

Our Brands

SKI SOLUTIONS

At Ski Solutions, the majority of our team have called the mountains our home at some stage in our lives and we understand first-hand the need to protect our playground. We are constantly developing our product to bring clients greener choices, from reaching the mountains via train to highlighting the resorts leading the way with their green initiatives.

We are working with Protect Our Winters to support their work in accelerating the transition to a carbon neutral society. We have also partnered with Mossy Earth to offset our flights through tree planting initiatives.

Cycling for Softies

Support for the local communities we visit is at the heart of what we do; wherever possible we work with local business owners and suppliers, encouraging our clients to stay in family-owned hotels and dine in independent restaurants.

Almost all of our tours in France are accessible by rail. 30% of our clients are choosing the greener option of travelling to their destinations by train, thereby reducing their carbon footprint by up to 90% over flying.

BSPOKE

Cycling is one of the most environmentally friendly ways we can explore the world around us and our tours are designed to ensure minimum impact on the environment, getting off the beaten track on two wheels while directly supporting the local economy.

We are proud to be partnered with World Bicycle Relief, who work to provide children in rural communities with durable bikes, so distance doesn’t have to be a barrier to education. Furthermore, whenever we purchase new bike equipment, we are pleased to donate our redundant equipment to local businesses and charities.

Wilderness Group

In choosing a Wilderness brand, be it Scotland, England or Ireland, you can be sure that you are travelling with a company that takes its commitment to sustainable tourism seriously. In addition to our pioneering Conservation Contribution Scheme, our holidays are purposefully designed to provide a visitor experience that maximises the positive benefits of tourism while minimising any negative impacts.

From start to finish we're constantly seeing where greener choices can be made. We start our trips at mainline train stations to promote the use of public transport and encourage clients to make use of reusable water bottles and lunch boxes. Conscious of the people that live in the areas that we visit, we ensure that we spread the economic impact whilst also minimising disturbance to the local community and environment.

Across our brands, we support various partners including the John Muir Trust in both Scotland and England, and BurrenBeo in Ireland, to help take care of our natural assets and cultural history.
